March 3 is designated as World Hearing Day, amplifying a global call to address hearing loss. In combination with the AirPods Pro 2, the Apple Hearing Study is helping democratize how medical research is conducted using technology that Apple users have already made a part of their everyday lives.
For World Hearing Day, Apple Vice President of Health, Dr. Sumbul Ahmad Desai, joined The View to discuss the growing impact of hearing loss and the importance of being proactive about hearing health. The co-hosts tried Apple AirPods Pro 2’s at-home hearing test and learned how the technology can help better understand and protect their hearing, especially in noisy environments.
The study is being conducted in collaboration with the University of Michigan School of Public Health, and data is being shared with the World Health Organization. The on-air segment ended with a studio audience giveaway of AirPods Pro 2’s so viewers could experience the hearing test for themselves.
