Subaru Loves To Help

Entered in Automotive

Objective

Having more creators doesn’t necessarily build more trust. Subaru Loves to Help proved that one authentic voice can drive greater impact than an entire creator roster.

At the center of the initiative is Subaru’s partnership with Operation Warm, through which Subaru and its network of retailers are helping provide more than 140,000 children experiencing homelessness with essential items including coats, shoes and socks. As the largest automotive supporter of Operation Warm, Subaru has supported more than one million children and adults through its broader Loves to Help efforts, reinforcing the Subaru Love Promise® and its long-standing commitment to improving lives in local communities.

Our objectives were to:

Strategy

Strategy

The campaign was built on a clear behavioral truth: in cause-driven marketing, audiences don’t respond to institutional messaging, they respond to people they trust experiencing impact in real time. The scale and seriousness of the issue demanded a different approach. When a campaign centers on children experiencing homelessness, authenticity isn’t a creative choice, it’s a responsibility.

While most campaigns increase creator volume to maximize reach, we reduced it, focused on depth, authenticity, and emotional proximity, anchored in three principles:

1. One voice with real credibility
A single philanthropic creator, Romeo Bartley Jr., was selected not for reach alone, but for his demonstrated commitment to supporting underserved and unhoused communities. His content regularly focuses on addressing immediate needs, whether providing clean socks, warm meals, or direct support, while sharing people’s stories with dignity and respect. This alignment made him uniquely credible to capture Subaru and its work with Operation Warm, ensuring the campaign felt experienced rather than performed, and strengthening both audience trust and emotional engagement.

2. Lived storytelling over brand storytelling
Content was captured in real time at the event, prioritizing volunteer interactions, direct-to-camera interviews, and real attendee perspectives - removing brand filters and increasing emotional immediacy. Content captured the direct distribution of essential items, including coats, shoes, and socks, to children and families, bringing visibility to moments that are often unseen but deeply impactful.

3. Full-funnel amplification without compromising authenticity
Organic content drove connection and engagement, while paid media scaled reach and drove traffic ensuring performance without diluting credibility. Content rolled out across TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts. The strategy was to let the right story tell itself through the right voice.

Execution

The campaign was executed through a tightly focused, high-impact rollout:

Performance optimization quickly revealed distinct roles:

Paid media amplified top-performing assets, scaling results efficiently while maintaining the integrity of the original content.
