Squeeze the Day is a community-wide campaign created to make mental health feel approachable, immediate, and part of everyday life. Nearly 4.8 million Texas adults have a mental health condition, while almost 33% of Texas youth experience mental health concerns, most commonly anxiety and depression. Yet 6 in 10 Texas adults with a mental illness do not receive care.
During Mental Health Awareness Month, Momentous Institute invited North Texas to talk about mental health and explore simple actions that support well-being, one mindful moment at a time. Rather than asking people to begin with a complex program or wait until a crisis, the campaign offered an accessible entry point: notice what you need, choose a small action, and make space for your mental health today.
Our goal was to move that message beyond Momentous Institute’s own channels and into the everyday places people live, work, learn, gather, and play. From malls and museums to zoos, parks, workplaces, and community spaces, Squeeze the Day connected physical and digital experiences, gave partners flexible ways to participate, and reinforced that mental health can be supported through ordinary, everyday moments.
The campaign aimed to expand the number and diversity of community partners, increase activation sites and events, grow awareness and reach, drive meaningful social engagement, and turn campaign interest into deeper impact through expert-led training, fundraising, and ongoing organizational relationships. Ultimately, Squeeze the Day sought to show what is possible when an entire community makes mental health a visible, everyday priority.
Squeeze the Day was designed as a flexible campaign platform. Momentous Institute created a simple, optimistic visual identity and a shared invitation to care for your mental health every day. Brightly colored signs placed throughout the community featured venue-specific, evidence-backed tips that encouraged people to pause, connect, move, reflect, or choose another small action in the moment. The signs were not the end goal; they were a vehicle for bringing practical mental health support into everyday environments and starting a broader conversation.
To scale the campaign, Momentous Institute built a cross-sector partner network. Partners included the Dallas Museum of Art, Dallas Zoo, Nasher Sculpture Center, Session Pilates, Visit Dallas, Klyde Warren Park, George W. Bush Presidential Center, City of McKinney, YMCA branches, Dallas Trinity FC, THE CJ CUP Byron Nelson PGA TOUR golf tournament, Galleria Dallas, and more locally rooted businesses. Each partner received campaign tools and guidance, then adapted the idea to its own audience and setting.
Activations ranged from signs and public-space installations to wellness events, walks, family programming, employee engagement, live media moments, retail products and point-of-sale fundraising. Examples included Squeeze & Stretch for Littles, a yoga class for kids at Galleria Dallas; a World Pilates Day activation with Session Pilates; a City of McKinney and City of Dallas proclamation and city-wide employee training; yard signs throughout the city; a limited-edition mat with The Mahjong Line, a give-back opportunity at the Knox Street Ralph Lauren store; and ongoing mental health programming for employees and community leaders.
Digital storytelling extended the same invitation online. Momentous Institute, partners, and influential community voices shared how they “squeezed the day,” allowing the social conversation to mirror the campaign appearing across physical spaces. Partner content, influencer participation, email, earned media, and live broadcast coverage reinforced a consistent message while reaching audiences beyond Momentous Institute’s existing community.
The primary challenge was maintaining a clear, meaningful mental health message while rapidly expanding a highly customized partner ecosystem. Momentous Institute addressed this by offering a cohesive campaign framework with flexible activation options, standardized resources, and direct partner support. This balance made participation easy without making it generic. The result was a campaign that felt locally owned at each site while still unmistakably part of one community-wide effort.
Squeeze the Day exceeded its goals for community participation, visibility, and organizational impact. The 2026 campaign engaged 27 community partners, a 350% increase from the pilot year, across 41 activation sites and more than 125 events and activations. More than 1,300 campaign signs appeared throughout North Texas. Audience sizes at participating events and venues during May totaled more than 1 million people.
The integrated physical and digital campaign generated 22.1 million impressions and reached 1.6 million people. Social media alone reached more than 439,000 people and produced roughly 11,500 engagements, while campaign email communications reached nearly 87,000 recipients. These results demonstrated that the message traveled well beyond Momentous Institute’s owned audience and became visible across the broader community.
Most importantly, awareness created pathways to deeper action. Campaign relationships led to mental health training for more than 300 participants. Partner-driven point-of-sale fundraising, donations, and in-kind contributions generated $25,000 for Momentous Institute, while new relationships created additional value and future opportunities.
We consider the effort successful because Squeeze the Day did more than deliver a message. It gave diverse organizations a practical way to participate in mental health promotion, placed approachable tools in people’s everyday environments, and provided a lighter public invitation to Momentous Institute’s deeper work with children, families, and communities. The campaign showed what it looks like when a community makes mental health a priority that should be talked about and created a foundation for even greater participation in 2027.
