Mom's Blood Health, My Future

Entered in Call to Action

Objective

“Mom’s Blood Health, My Future” was created to address one of the most overlooked global maternal health issues: anemia and iron deficiency during pregnancy. Despite affecting nearly half of pregnant women worldwide, maternal blood health remains under-discussed, underdiagnosed, and often misunderstood across both developed and developing healthcare systems.

The campaign’s objective was to transform awareness into action by creating accessible, evidence-based educational content that empowers mothers, families, and healthcare providers to recognize the importance of maternal blood health before, during, and after pregnancy.

Produced by World Anemia Awareness in partnership with the Blood Health Awareness Group, the campaign aimed to:

The campaign was designed as the launch point for a larger international maternal blood health initiative culminating in a 9-day digital awareness campaign in September, bringing together OB-GYNs, blood health specialists, and mothers worldwide.

At its core, the project sought to humanize maternal blood health while delivering practical, science-backed education capable of improving outcomes for both mothers and future generations.

Strategy

The strategy behind “Mom’s Blood Health, My Future” was to create a highly accessible, emotionally resonant, and medically credible digital campaign capable of reaching a global audience across multiple platforms and demographics.

Rather than relying solely on traditional awareness messaging, the campaign combined storytelling, short-form video, educational content, expert participation, and community engagement to make maternal blood health understandable and relatable to everyday audiences.

The project was intentionally structured as a multi-layered digital experience leading into a larger September awareness initiative. The launch video served as the emotional entry point — introducing the campaign’s central message that maternal blood health directly shapes the future health and wellbeing of children and families.

Execution included:

A key challenge was translating complex medical information into content that was both scientifically accurate and emotionally engaging without creating fear or misinformation. The team addressed this by combining expert-reviewed educational material with human-centered storytelling focused on prevention, empowerment, and practical action.

Another challenge was addressing a global audience with varying levels of healthcare literacy and differing cultural conversations surrounding pregnancy and women’s health. To overcome this, the campaign emphasized clear, universal messaging and visual storytelling designed to resonate across borders and languages.

What makes the project unique is its integration of medical expertise, social impact storytelling, and digital accessibility into a unified campaign focused on prevention and long-term generational health. Instead of treating anemia as a niche medical issue, the campaign reframed maternal blood health as a foundational public health conversation affecting millions of families worldwide.

The campaign demonstrates how digital media can be used not only to raise awareness, but to encourage informed conversations, earlier intervention, and community engagement around maternal healthcare.

Results

“Mom’s Blood Health, My Future” successfully established early momentum for a larger global maternal blood health initiative by generating audience engagement, increasing visibility around maternal anemia, and creating accessible educational content designed for international reach.

The campaign:

The project also strengthened community participation by building anticipation for “Blood Health Live: Mom’s Edition,” designed to foster direct dialogue between medical experts and the public.

Most importantly, the campaign helped reposition maternal blood health from a rarely discussed issue into an urgent and actionable public health conversation centered on prevention, education, and generational wellbeing.

The initiative continues to serve as a foundation for future global awareness efforts by World Anemia Awareness and the Blood Health Awareness Group
