Lia Matthow is an award-winning media and non-profit executive and the CEO of Open to Debate, appointed as the organization marks its 20th anniversary. Known for innovating and rebuilding institutions at moments of inflection, she is leading a re-imagining of Open to Debate's content, funding strategies, AI-enabled practices, and cross-platform distribution to scale its mission and impact in 2026. Open to Debate Foundation, formerly Intelligence Squared U.S. is a nonpartisan, nonprofit media organization that produces nationally broadcast debates and conversations on topics spanning technology, law, global affairs, culture, science, and public policy issues. It is distributed to millions weekly on more than 250 NPR stations across the country, including flagship WNYC, YouTube, Substack, Spotify and Apple. Previously as Chief Content Officer, Lia oversaw the development of more than 275 debates and has led editorial and strategic partnerships with The Council on Foreign Relations, Bloomberg, The Human Rights Foundation, The Aspen Ideas Festival, Johns Hopkins University/SNF Agora and other leading academic institutions. She a sough after speaker and recently co-moderated discussions with broadcast discussions with Justice Stephen G. Breyer and Jake Tapper and 'Let's Talk' sessions at TED in 2024. She recently interviewed #1 bestselling happiness expert Arthur C. Brooks on his release. She became a member of The Council on Foreign Relations in 2025.
