At Audible, we believe stories are one of the most powerful agents of change: they educate, challenge, inspire, and bring us closer together. Stories can inspire action and have the potential to help create a better future. Emerging creators often face structural barriers to entry, and we aim to close that gap by creating clear, supported pathways from early creative development to professional production and distribution. Our goal is to expand access to the rapidly growing audio entertainment industry by intentionally building a more inclusive talent pipeline.
We work to foster emerging storytellers around the world, giving them the fuel they need to kickstart their careers while catalyzing a more equitable audio storytelling industry. Since 2018, Audible has launched 25 different Emerging Creator Programs (ECP) around the globe. Our initiatives fall into three types: owned programs managed and administered by Audible, strategic partnerships with institutions and nonprofits working with emerging creators, and sponsorships of programs administered by industry organizations. We carefully select industry partners and nonprofit organizations that are aligned with our goal to uplift diverse voices and emerging talent worldwide.
To expand access and strengthen the professional pipeline for emerging storytellers, Audible implemented a global emerging creator strategy rooted in collaboration, diversity and accessibility to help emerging creators develop industry-relevant skills, build strategic partnerships across sectors and provide clear pathways to paid, professional work.
Audible has launched Emerging Creator Programs around the world, spanning the US, UK, Brazil, Canada, France, Italy, and Spain.
Globally, we commission up-and-coming playwrights through the Emerging Playwrights Fund to create original, dramatic work that is theatrical in spirit and written with audio in mind, connecting voiceover performers with original work.
In the US, we support Audio in Color, a nonprofit that produces high-quality romance audiobooks from diverse voices and provides resources for authors and narrators seeking to enter the field. Partnering with Sundance Collab, we launched the Audio Storytelling Intensive Course, supporting aspiring filmmakers and writers with live, expert-led training to adapt their narratives into immersive audio formats. And with the Entertainment Community Fund, we provide workshops and classes for emerging creators in career management, audiobook narration and portfolio training.
At more than two dozen universities and programs in the U.S. and Canada, we teach drama students about career opportunities in audio narration, offering classes on home studios, characters, accents and more. And our Indigenous Writers Circle in Canada connects emerging First Nations, Inuit and Métis writers with mentors and established Indigenous authors to help them find footing in the publishing industry.
We collaborate with UK charity Multitrack to offer Off-Mic Workshops, free classes for emerging creators to develop skills in audio content production. Through the Women’s Prize for Fiction: Discoveries program, aspiring female writers receive professional development opportunities with winners securing literary representation and Audible commissions. At LAMDA, we fund scholarships for creatives from low-socioeconomic backgrounds. Through LAMDA’s GNR8 program, students develop and perform original audio plays with industry mentors, turning training into tangible, distributed work.
For university students across Spain, we offer AudibleLab, a series of workshops for emerging voices to access the latest technologies and trends in audio storytelling, often resulting in original content development.
In Italy, we work with the Organizzazion Doppiatori Specializzati (O.D.S.) voice acting and dubbing studio to award a three-year training scholarship and host a workshop with acclaimed Italian narrators, prioritizing candidates from disadvantaged backgrounds who show an aptitude for microphone work.
In France, we offer a masterclass in audio production with Theatre Mogador to expose participants to the process and potential careers in the industry, including a visit to our Audible Studios.
In Brazil, we support Série Lab’s Audio Storytelling track, including a session for new and emerging creators to pitch ideas for audio series with the winner awarded a production fund. Our Audible Creator Development Program Brazil helps explain the audio production process for emerging creatives and allows an aspiring creator to have their content produced as an Audible Original.
Around the world, Audible gives emerging creators the tools to develop their skills, find their audience, and bring their work to life.
