Project Euphonia is a Google Research initiative that collects samples of non-standard speech in an effort to make speech recognition technology more accessible for people who have difficulty communicating. The website we created demonstrates how the data is captured and used to train new models, driving awareness and inviting more users to participate. We developed design, copy, animation, and bespoke sound design to tell the story of this program
Our goal was to drive awareness to Project Euphonia, and how the program impacts the lives of people around the world with the data it produces. Conversations are a significant part of daily life, but talking is also a significant obstacle for millions of people around the world who have non-standard speech. Every speech sample brings us closer to the goal of making information more accessible for everyone.
The launch of this project has driven a significant increase in traffic towards Project Euphonia, as well as the other initiatives that have been created from its data. As a result, new Google Research projects are being developed with the goal to improve accessibility in daily life.
