The For Good podcast, hosted by Joseph “JoJo” Simmons, is dedicated to destigmatizing mental health, particularly among Black men and fathers. Recognizing the cultural and societal barriers that often hinder open discussions about mental well-being in Black communities, the podcast serves as a platform for candid conversations on healing, growth, and legacy. JoJo leverages his personal experiences and public platform to foster a space where vulnerability is embraced, aiming to break generational cycles and promote emotional literacy. By intertwining personal narratives with broader societal issues, the podcast bridges the gap between individual healing and collective empowerment.
Launched during Mental Health Awareness Month, the For Good podcast is a weekly series that centers on Black mental health through profound, soul-level conversations. Hosted by Joseph “JoJo” Simmons—son of hip-hop legend Rev Run of Run DMC and a recognized mental health advocate—the podcast delves into topics of healing, personal growth, and intentional living. JoJo's journey from public scrutiny during his youth to becoming a mental health advocate adds depth and authenticity to the discussions. Each episode features influential guests, including Dr. Cheyenne Bryant, Lil Eazy-E, Vanessa Simmons, and Corvain Cooper, who share their experiences and insights on mental well-being. The podcast aims to challenge stigmas, especially those surrounding Black men and fathers, by promoting open dialogues about emotional intelligence and self-care. Through storytelling and honest reflection, For Good encourages listeners to reconnect with their purpose, reimagine their legacy, and choose growth—not just for themselves, but for their families and communities.
