Giving back to our local community is a core pillar for the Arizona Coyotes. Captain Oliver Ekman-Larsson shares in our belief and has a particular interest in supporting our youth via multiple causes. He has an affinity for horseback riding because it's something he used to do as a child with his mother. He wanted to share that joy with some children part of HopeKids, a local nonprofit that supports kids struggling with different medical challenges, to give them a chance to just have fun and be kids for the day. We wanted to be able to share this special experience to encourage our fans to join into the idea of giving back.
While Oliver and other players do a lot behind the scenes, our strategy in sharing the message was to utilize social media to - 1. Share the importance our team and players find in giving back and 2. Help to provide a platform for people to learn about one of our local nonprofit partners that people can support. We were able to share story on facebook, instagram, twitter and youtube. One of the key features of this entry is the one on one relationship development Oliver creates with each of these children and the memories he is creating for them. He went above and beyond by spending his personal time and money horseback riding and also providing jerseys. Another key feature is really showing that our team values and activates the ability to make such a greater impact on individuals and our community well beyond hockey.
We often use #CoyotesGiveBack to feature the way our players and team are impacting the community. Oliver went above and beyond giving Hopekids a special day. Our fans were able to share in that experience and learn more about what it means to be a Coyote and provide them with more information on a wonderful nonprofit they can support in our community.
