Called 'one of the hardest working Twitter accounts in media' by BuzzFeed.com, @MTV live-tweets each of its prime time shows every night, bringing its high daily level of fan interactivity directly to the nightly TV viewing experience.Twitter is an essential component of MTV’s various 2nd screen experiences for daily programming and award shows. As a result, Twitter saw 10 million @MTV #VMA-related Tweets on Sunday during the East Coast airing of the show—more tweets than any award show to date. The 2011 VMAs also spawned a Twitter record when Beyonce Knowles announced her pregnancy live, with a spike of 8,868 tweets per second. Prior to that, @MTV was first to report Beyonce's pregnancy, in the form of a TwitPic that has seen over a million views and was retweeted more than 20k times.
