2012 was the rebirth of the Animated GIF and since then it has only grown in popularity! From the presidential election, to the Superbowl, the year's biggest events were all captured in moveable images that were shared on Tumblr and the social web. The Shorty Award for Animated GIF of the Year recognizes an impactful GIF from 2013. To be eligible for a nomination, all GIFs must have been GIFed in 2013 and shared to a social media site like Tumblr.

All nominations must be in the form of a link that can be embedded in a tweet such as from sites like giphy, twitpic, etc. (please see example in "URL of Animated Gif to nominate" on the voting form).
