I'm a 14 year old tiger used as a roadside attraction at a truck stop in Louisiana. Despite court rulings prohibiting the Louisiana Dept. of Wildlife and Fisheries from issuing any further permits, I'm STILL HERE because of appeals by my owner, Michael Sandlin. When he exhausted all of his appeals, he enlisted his state Senator, Rick Ward, to propose a bill, SB 250, to exempt himself from the 2006 Louisiana state law banning private ownership of big cats. SB 250 was passed by the Louisiana Legislature and then was signed into law as Act 697 by Gov. Bobby Jindal.
Animal Legal Defense Fund is challenging this bill by filing a lawsuit against the LDWF, state of Louisiana, Tiger Truck Stop and Mr. Sandlin:

How do you or your organization use social media? What makes your use unique?
Animals need a voice and I found mine by tweeting. People not only learn about me, but about the serious problem of captive tigers and big cats in the U.S. I tweet ways you can help us by signing petitions, supporting legislation like the Big Cats and Public Safety Protection Act which seeks to end private ownerships of tigers and big cats in the U.S. You can help support this bill by asking your reps to co-sponsor it. Learn more here: http://bigcatrescue.org/big-cats-and-public-safety-protection-hr1998-s1381/ I also tweet for a very special lady named @LucyLiberte. She's an amazing Asian elephant who lives alone in Edmonton Canada. Lucy was born in the wild and then sent to the zoo when she was about 2 years in 1977. People are trying to have Lucy moved to an elephant sanctuary.
