I graduated with a BFA in studio art from the University of Montana in 2011. During my senior year I discovered the UM Zoological Museum on our campus. Upset that it lacked any full time staff, I took it upon myself to fulfill that role by volunteering. I am now an MA candidate in the Johns Hopkins Museum Studies program, and the host of an educational YouTube channel (The Brain Scoop) that aims to share the wonders of zoological museums with a global audience.
Interview with Emily
How long can you go without a tweet?
Only as long as it takes for me to get back to a computer -- I love staying connected and seeing what my followers are up to!
How do you imagine Twitter changing?
I see it becoming an even more important way to engage the interested audience as unique people, and learn more about them as individuals.
Why should we vote for you?
I'm the only fulltime staff of our zoological museum, a volunteer, and using YouTube to globally reach thousands that love to learn about us!
What are six things you could never do without?
Zoological museums, natural history, science, biology, dermestid beetles, and the Internet.
