How Alumni Ventures Went All-In on AI

Objective

Pioneering venture capital firm Alumni Ventures is leaning into innovation again with its bold leap into AI technology. As one of the most active VCs on the planet (PitchBook 2022), Alumni Ventures is embracing AI as a powerful competitive advantage. We hosted our 2023 AI Challenge from May 22 to 24 to jump-start the initiative. This was a company-wide incubator/competition for the most effective AI applications, with prizes totaling over $100,000. As part of this initiative, we developed a PR campaign to promote the challenge and our overall efforts to deploy AI across all operations at our firm.

Strategy

We pitched an op-ed written by Alumni Ventures Founder and CEO Michael Collins to prominent publications covering venture capital, business, and entrepreneurship. In his op-ed, Collins summarizes his rationale for and takeaways from the AI Challenge,
providing CEOs with a playbook for onboarding disruptive tech and empowering their employees with AI. He discussed:
