We use Twitter all the time to share information, answer questions, and take our audience to places in the museum they may not be able to go.

#MuseumOlympics hilariously connected art collections to the games. We took gold in the "Not Sports" category.

Exhibit. Unfortunately, no one would get it if we said "Check out our new exhs!"
Have you ever unfollowed someone? Who and why?
Yes, of course. It's natural. Sometimes ALL CAPS TWEETS get a little too intrusive.

We try to bring the experience of the museum to you, and your thoughts, ideas, and experiences to our museum.

What's the most interesting connection you've made through Twitter?
We connected with a student that claimed our 1969 "Art by Telephone" exhibition never happened/existed.
What inspires you to tweet?
The art that we exhibit and the performances we host. It's the reason we're here and why people visit us. It's the heart of everything we do.
Ever get called out for tweeting too much?
Not yet. Twitter is for tweeting, but we try not to go overboard and warn people when rapid live tweeting is incoming.
140 characters of advice for a new user?
Learn by doing and learn from others, but be yourself. Don't spam hashtags.
How long can you go without a tweet?
How do you imagine Twitter changing?
Unfortunately we can imagine it beginning to rank and parse content like Facebook's Timeline and Edgerank. That would be a tragedy.

What is one of the biggest misconceptions of Twitter?
That it's just for trolls or venting. We have wonderful positive interactions 99% of the time.

Not only do we post awesome photos and link to interesting articles, we are super responsive, we get back to questions within seconds.

We can't hide our enthusiasm for contemporary art, and we love sharing that with our equally enthusiastic audience.

Yes. Twitter connected us and our art with fans and friends all over the world that would have never been possible before.
What do you wish people would do more of on Twitter?
Art-related puns. But then again we WOULD wish that.

Tweeting the wrong thing at the wrong time. Be sensible (and sensitive).
