How do you use Twitter in your professional life?
It's invaluable. I connect with potential clients, publicize new pieces, and talk with other designers who inspire and challenge me.
What's your favorite Twitter app?
On the iPhone, I use Echofon, but I really like #newtwitter
, so I generally use that when I'm on my computer.
Twitter or Facebook?
I use both, but I'm much more public on Twitter. My Facebook account is much more about connecting with close friends and family.
What was the funniest trend you've seen?
meme was fantastic. It even wound up being covered on NPR's All Things Considered.
Who do you wish had a Twitter feed but doesn't?
I'd love to see what Joss Whedon could do with 140 characters.
What are some words or phrases you refuse to shorten for brevity?
My Twitter name is Lexigeek. I'm a word nerd. "Ur" for "your" and "2" for "to" make my skin crawl.
Have you ever unfollowed someone? Who and why?
I'll unfollow a customer support account once my issue's been resolved. I rarely unfollow real people.
What's the most interesting connection you've made through Twitter?
I've made amazing new friends and clients through Twitter this year , including @wilw, @feliciaday, @teamunicornftw, and @jonathancoulton.

What inspires you to tweet?
I love sharing design that inspires me. If a new set of really cool Star Wars posters comes out, I'm probably tweeting about it.
Ever get called out for tweeting too much?
I think so, during the @NASA
tweetup. And I may have overshared a bit with foursquare on one trip to Disneyland. :)

Well, I generally sleep for 6 hours or so ...

fueled an independent, 50-state concert tour by harnessing her social network.
What is one of the biggest misconceptions of Twitter?
That it's all mindless updates about what I had for lunch and hey look at this picture of my cat. There's a surprising amount of substance.
Why should people follow you?
I'm establishing myself as a full-time graphic designer, tweeting about my journey along the way. I'd love folks to follow along!
Why'd you start tweeting?
I started tweeting back when I was working on a webcomic and wanted to spread the word and meet other cartoonists.
Has Twitter changed your life? If yes, how?
Absolutely! Thanks to the connections I've made on Twitter, my goal of working as a graphic designer in film & TV is becoming a reality.
What do you wish people would do more of on Twitter?
How about less? I'd love to see less complaining when a Twitter glitch messes with tweet counts.
What will the world be like 10 years from now?
Everything goes retro, so we'll probably be reliving the 90s. At least it won't be as bad as the 80s retro revival. *shudder*
