I enjoy connecting w/Richmonders & other Tweeple in the plant/gardening/horticulture world. Tweeting for Lewis Ginter is my job & I love it!
What's your favorite Twitter app?
Tweetie for sure on my iphone. On my desktop I use both Hootsuite and Tweetdeck.
Twitter or Facebook?
Personally, I prefer Twitter because of finding cool people through hash tags -- but really I enjoy them both a lot.
What was the funniest trend you've seen?
Well, I guess that would have to be #bacon -- our local bank is going for a #bacon #Shorty I'm all for it, but still, it's kinda' funny.
What feature should Twitter add?
Twitter for plants! Ok, no, I'm just kidding.
Who do you wish had a Twitter feed but doesn't?
The horticulture staff @LewisGinter --they R so knowledgeable & funny, but R too busy to tweet, so I try to give them a voice when I can.
What are some words or phrases you refuse to shorten for brevity?
Pupate. how can you abbreviate that? During Butterflies LIVE! we had that one a few times. Also those pesky super-long Latin botanical names.
Is there someone you want to follow you who doesn't already? If so, who?
Well, I'd love to hear about @1stLadyObama's White House Victory Garden first-hand on Twitter, but that doesn't seem likely.

Yes. You know why.
Why should we vote for you?
Because never before has a non-profit garden used Twitter like this. We are raising awareness, educating & bringing people outside to beauty.

Hashtag you created that you wish everyone used?
#PublicGardens -- I wish that all the public gardens on Twitter used it to connect and share ideas & work together. It's slowly catching on.
How do you make your tweets unique?
Who else can tweet about sleeping in the Children's Garden Treehouse? ( I should mention this was an official Garden-sponsored event)
What inspires you to tweet?
The flowers. Especially those pictures that I want to share of a dewdrop covered rose or first glimpse of a crocus, snowdrop or daffodil.
Ever get called out for tweeting too much?
Um, yes. When I'm enjoying the Garden with my family & just can't help it. If I see something great I want to share it.

Use Twitter to connect with Tweeple you'd love to know, but might not ever meet in real life. Then, work together to do something good!
How long can you go without a tweet?
Usually, not long. There is always something happening. If I'm at the Garden, I just want to share it.

Best Tweet received? via @TiffanieChan @LewisGinter It's their favorite place to take her. She just learned how to say "flower."
Who do you admire most for his or her use of Twitter?
I really admire John @Sarvay, a #RVA blogger, who never seems to run out of witty things to say, and is always making me laugh.
Why'd you start tweeting?
To connect with others--in my region, in my industry, or who just want me to bring the Garden to them b/c they can't be here.
Has Twitter changed your life? If yes, how?
I built connections with people I never would have known otherwise. Strangely, I've made lots of friend. Real friends. :)
What do you wish people would do more of on Twitter?
Well, I think there can never be enough Twitpics. I take lots of photos of the Garden and send them out & love seeing others photos too.
How will the world change in the next year?
People will spend more time outdoors -- It's good for you, and it makes you feel good!
What are some big Twitter faux pas?
I'd say the biggest one that I've seen people make is not following anyone back -- just because they don't know better.
What will the world be like 10 years from now?
Greener, with more flowers, & with people spending more time outside (admittedly on their phones & laptops) Did I mention we have WiFi?
