How do you use Twitter in your professional life?
It's a vital tool for connecting with sites/apps who want coverage as they have to be brief and get to the point! Hate LOOONG PR emails :(
What's your favorite Twitter app?
Currently twtrland.com but I review this stuff for a living so am always discovering new wonders online
Twitter or Facebook?
Depends what for. Twitter is like a noticeboard to pin cool things whereas Facebook is for long form messages and conversations on a topic
What was the funniest trend you've seen?
I like parody accts like MadeUpStats. I find hashtag trends a little dull and samey (hence the name!) and people rarely share them with me
What feature should Twitter add?
I'm happy if they keep their API open and accessible so that third-party apps can be made for every specialist use so no exclusion
Who do you wish had a Twitter feed but doesn't?
My cats!! I would love to know what really goes on in their heads when they are gazing at me in a slightly superior fashion
What are some words or phrases you refuse to shorten for brevity?
I never shorten any words unless I have to. It just looks lazy. It is particularly naff to use '8' in place of letters, for example 'gr8' :/
Is there someone you want to follow you who doesn't already? If so, who?
Actually when @DavidBraben, the man behind the game Elite that got me into tech in 1984 started following me, my follower count was completed
Have you ever unfollowed someone? Who and why?
Frequently.. I temp-follow PRs/websites to get information for reviews but like to keep my follow list clean with only interesting tweeters

I love people & social media lets me show them. I am an awesome sharer and possibly the first girl to ever fund a sci-fi novel on Kickstarter

What's the most interesting connection you've made through Twitter?
I have a follower who's been a fan since 1997 & recently invited him to my book launch next month to thank him for his support! Should be fun

#hashtagsyouwishyouhadthoughtofthateveryoneuses .. for some reason it never caught on...
How do you make your tweets unique?
By tweeting from the heart and always seeing the humour in life - sometimes when I really shouldn't!
What inspires you to tweet?
Education, safety, freedom, cool stuff, science, technology, space, kittens, humour, the moment
Ever get called out for tweeting too much?
Never!! Well, OK maybe a bit.. I also do all the tweeting for @BBCClick which has 2 million followers.. so on a follower/tweets basis I'm OK!
140 characters of advice for a new user?
Your twitter experience will only be as good as the people you follow, so choose them wisely & don't worry about who is following you!
How long can you go without a tweet?
One day, maximum.. but I always feel totally compelled to roll back my timeline and reply to everyone I missed in the day!

It will grow naturally, but more third-party apps will be used to gain granular control over the data you can extract from it and ways you it

I love technology & am a walking wiki of the web. Want to find something online? I probably know where it is! And I give good tweet ;)

Erm.. mentally healthier, yes :) I think sharing ideas and information is the best route to an agile mind!
How has social media helped bring your family closer together and #keepgoodgoing?
My grandmother is 90 this year and because we made sure she was online and being social she is completely independent still
Why'd you start tweeting?
I reviewed Twitter for BBC Click. I couldn't work out whether it was a cool curiosity or a time waster! Who knew it would get SO big?
Has Twitter changed your life? If yes, how?
Yes. I have a book deal. I get instant feedback on my work from the people who count; my audience. I spend less time reading PR emails
What do you wish people would do more of on Twitter?
Not using'follow back' strategy for gaining followers. It's completely pointless asking people to follow you if they're not listening to you
How will the world change in the next year?
My book will be available so there will no longer be any excuse for businesses not to use the Internet effectively!
What are some big Twitter faux pas?
posting #teamfollowback, posting short URLs with no explanation so they just look like spam, following 5K people.. what is the point??
What will the world be like 10 years from now?
Very crowded! Very expensive. Very connected. Very cool. Hopefully we will have hover cars.
