The Shorty Interview
with Jenn Greenleaf
What's your best tweet?
The one I made about becoming a bestselling author for the first time.
What are six things you could never do without?
My brain, my fingers, my eyes, pens, journals, people to love.
How do you use Twitter in your professional life?
I like talking about writing, sharing links to blogs, helping other writers find leads, answer writing questions, & promote other writers.
What's your favorite Twitter app?
I like the one that came with my Blackberry.
Twitter or Facebook?
I use Facebook more because I can set the privacy setting really high.
What was the funniest trend you've seen?
Honestly, I don't look at the trends that much.
What feature should Twitter add?
Longer profiles so people who start following us (whom we've never met) have more information to share.
Who do you wish had a Twitter feed but doesn't?
A large number of my high school friends.
What are some words or phrases you refuse to shorten for brevity?
I don't shorten many as it is - I use numbers sometimes, but it annoys me.
Is there someone you want to follow you who doesn't already? If so, who?
Have you ever unfollowed someone? Who and why?
I have unfollowed someone in the past when I realized they weren't *really* using Twitter. It seemed to be an auto-feed from something.
Why should we vote for you?
I've never been nominated for an award like this before so, needless to say, I'm giddy, grateful, appreciative, and overwhelmed!
Terms you wish would start trending on Twitter right now?
What's the most interesting connection you've made through Twitter?
RobinLovejoy-Tolkien!
Hashtag you created that you wish everyone used?
How do you make your tweets unique?
I think every person is unique, therefore what I tweet is naturally going to be unique compared to another tweeter.
What inspires you to tweet?
I like sharing work-related news, accomplishments, and network. I also ask questions, and use it as a watercooler.
Ever get called out for tweeting too much?
Not yet, but it could happen.
140 characters of advice for a new user?
Don't boost your following by randomly following people you don't really know or don't really care what they're tweeting about.
How long can you go without a tweet?
I tweet daily, so I'm not sure.
What question are we not asking here that we should?
Why doesn't anything rhyme with orange?
How do you imagine Twitter changing?
I think more efforts to prevent the "fail whale" from appearing will be underway.
Who do you admire most for his or her use of Twitter?
Who is the funniest person on Twitter that you follow?
What is one of the biggest misconceptions of Twitter?
That it's difficult to use. It isn't at all.
Why should people follow you?
I like sharing industry tips whenever I can, and I'm hoping to inspire others to achieve similar goals as mine.
Can you name some one-of-a-kind Twitter accounts that you follow?
How do you decide what to tweet?
I just tweeted whatever was on my mind.
Why'd you start tweeting?
I wanted to see what all the fuss was about.
Has Twitter changed your life? If yes, how?
Yes, because I've connected with people I would never had been able to before.
What do you wish people would do more of on Twitter?
Share work related news, rather than sharing what they've read about someone else's work.
How will the world change in the next year?
It all depends on which people make what decisions and when.
What are some big Twitter faux pas?
What will the world be like 10 years from now?
The same - except, a bunch more people will be born, a bunch more people will die, and a bunch of us will be a little older.
