What's your best tweet?
What are six things you could never do without?
Twitter. Creativity. Coffee. BU Sports. Great Food. Boston.
How do you use Twitter in your professional life?
To engage with our students and provide a resource that is constantly available.
What's your favorite Twitter app?
We're currently HootSuite loyalists. Thanks, HootSuite!
Twitter or Facebook?
Twitter. The bird is the word.
What was the funniest trend you've seen?
BU Memes (https://www.facebook.com/BUmemes) is excellent. But it's still tough to beat an in-bread cat! Anything with cats. We love cats!
What feature should Twitter add?
Longer character limits for DM's. It would eliminate the extra step of switching to email to answer questions/make new connections.
Who do you wish had a Twitter feed but doesn't?
What are some words or phrases you refuse to shorten for brevity?
Anything that would require the use of "2" in a word (2 much, 2night). In general, we try to keep it AP-friendly.
Is there someone you want to follow you who doesn't already? If so, who?
We're lucky, we have some great BU/COM alums that already follow us - still need @
HowardStern and @
BravoAndy on board.
Have you ever unfollowed someone? Who and why?
We try to keep it positive. If someone is always tweeting negative things, it's hard to keep following them.
Why should we vote for you?
We're genuine, we engage with our populations and our former student just won Miss Universe.
#ProudtoBU
Terms you wish would start trending on Twitter right now?
What's the most interesting connection you've made through Twitter?
We get a lot of guest speakers through twitter. It's an amazing resource and connection point.
Hashtag you created that you wish everyone used?
How do you make your tweets unique?
By adding a human voice that reflects the collective personality of our student body. We're a school, not a robot. Our students are awesome.
What inspires you to tweet?
The activities and accomplishments of our students, professors and alums. There are more than enough stories to be inspired on a daily basis.
Ever get called out for tweeting too much?
Not yet, but this Shorty Award run might be stretching the limits for some followers :)
140 characters of advice for a new user?
Engage, ask questions, have fun. But remember, your reputation is valuable. Always keep that in mind.
How long can you go without a tweet?
Depends on how busy the office is, but during the day, never more than a couple hours. It's a blessing and a curse.
What question are we not asking here that we should?
"Would you enjoy a cheese platter at the New York awards ceremony?" (Yes, we would! Thanks.)
How do you imagine Twitter changing?
I think the ads will be more pervasive and maybe that'll turn some people off. Gotta stay creative and fresh.
Who do you admire most for his or her use of Twitter?
Really like @
AmyJoMartin and her use of Twitter. She's using it as a foundation for so many great things.
Who is the funniest person on Twitter that you follow?
What is one of the biggest misconceptions of Twitter?
That it's only a collection of Facebook statuses. As @
tdefren tweeted, Twitter is fantastic for filtering up great content.
Why should people follow you?
To say informed about one of the country's best communication schools. Also, we make some pretty funny videos.
Can you name some one-of-a-kind Twitter accounts that you follow?
Certainly. All of our students'. Trust us, they're one-of-a-kind.
How do you decide what to tweet?
We try to strike a balance between engagement, news, BU-related promotion, and general nonsense. Anything in there is fair game.
How do you use social media to motivate yourself or others to live a healthier life?
Hmmm...it's hard to be healthy when you are chugging coffee.
How has social media helped bring your family closer together and #keepgoodgoing?
We are always trying to find ways to give back. The past few years we've done a toy drive for the Home for Little Wanderers.
Why'd you start tweeting?
To announce events and news about the College of Communication. @
DeanSaboSays always makes sure we're on top of new media.
Has Twitter changed your life? If yes, how?
Well, we're a whole lot more popular now. At least that's how it feels when we gain followers.
What do you wish people would do more of on Twitter?
Explore. It's easy to create your own customized Twitter bubble. It's even easier to follow a few more accounts and open up the world.
How will the world change in the next year?
What are some big Twitter faux pas?
It drives us crazy when people don't know how twitter works...@ replies only go to the people following those two people!
What will the world be like 10 years from now?
Hopefully people will realize that they should make the most of their time while they are able to...
