The Shorty Interview
with Chris T-T
What's your best tweet?
I guess the #IAmSpartacus meme of Paul Chambers' 'Robin Hood' tweet. Born of anger, not humour - but still it did what I wanted it to do.
What are six things you could never do without?
Things, not people? guitar, iPhone, access to a piano, potatoes, chocolate, notebook and pen.
How do you use Twitter in your professional life?
I don't have a professional life, I aim to be unprofessional in all things and a big part of that is Twitter.
What's your favorite Twitter app?
I use Twitter for iPhone, occasionally Hootsuite Lite if I need to schedule one.
Twitter or Facebook?
Facebook is a control tower for the establishment, Twitter is communication for the people.
What was the funniest trend you've seen?
I guess it's funny when mis-spelled names trend. People are idiots.
What feature should Twitter add?
A phrase or hashtag filter so that we can bypass tweets on a dull subject without unfollowing.
Who do you wish had a Twitter feed but doesn't?
What are some words or phrases you refuse to shorten for brevity?
Unless I'm struggling badly to fit something in, I like the English language.
Is there someone you want to follow you who doesn't already? If so, who?
Have you ever unfollowed someone? Who and why?
Overtweeters, undertweeters and people obsessed with shit TV (X Factor/Idol/I'mACelebrity etc.)
Why should we vote for you?
For me, #IAmSpartacus was a sincere, anger-driven moment of civil disobedience. For others it was a laugh. You decide if it's important.
Terms you wish would start trending on Twitter right now?
#congratulationsonyourretirementfrompubliclifeglennbeck
What's the most interesting connection you've made through Twitter?
Too many to pick one.
Hashtag you created that you wish everyone used?
Nah. The one time I tried, they did. ;)
How do you make your tweets unique?
What inspires you to tweet?
Laughter, anger and music, mostly.
Ever get called out for tweeting too much?
140 characters of advice for a new user?
Follow and read first, then get tweeting. Follow according to your true interests, not based on popularity / recommends.
How long can you go without a tweet?
A few hours if absolutely necessary.
What question are we not asking here that we should?
You'll figure it out.
How do you imagine Twitter changing?
The eventual need for ROI will ruin Twitter. I proposed a community buyout here: http://tinyurl.com...
Who do you admire most for his or her use of Twitter?
I don't know. @johannhari
Who is the funniest person on Twitter that you follow?
A lot of the stand-ups are good. @MrChrisAddison, @MarcusBrig is a sweetheart. @mattwhatsit. @MrJimBob is droll.
What is one of the biggest misconceptions of Twitter?
That it's anything other than what you make it. Mainstream media moans about the noise - but the noise is switchoffable.
Why should people follow you?
Follow people who'll enrich your life, not people you think you should be seen to connect with. If that's me, cool. If not, also cool.
Can you name some one-of-a-kind Twitter accounts that you follow?
How do you decide what to tweet?
Somehow it has become an immediate instinctive response to the world - I have to fight to decide what not to tweet.
Why'd you start tweeting?
To chat to @ManxStef. Because I didn't like Facebook and Myspace. Because Twitter didn't ask for my life story.
Has Twitter changed your life? If yes, how?
Twitter has become my dartboard for any thought or idea. But it's as dangerous (especially to creativity) as it is liberating.
What do you wish people would do more of on Twitter?
I like Twitter bottom-up, not top-down. More RTing of people with fewer followers than yourself, please, for example. less RTing celebs.
How will the world change in the next year?
The world will get harder for people in the privileged west, with significant social unrest, violence and poverty. And more flooding.
What are some big Twitter faux pas?
The spelling mistakes. For God's sake spell peoples' names right.
What will the world be like 10 years from now?
Simpler and dirtier. Better for people who feel like me. Much worse for the majority that doesn't. I hope.
