The Arab Spring, Occupy Wall Street, and protests around the globe have empowered individuals to be heard throughout the social Web from Twitter and Facebook to YouTube. The #activism Shorty Award will be given to an individual who has made a significant difference in his or her community.
Voting is now closed. Over the next few days we will be auditing the submitted votes. The Shorty Award finalists and Shorty Vox Populi winners will be announced next week.
