People around the world are learning what New Yorkers have known for decades: Binghamton University is one of America's premier public universities. We attract outstanding students and award-winning faculty who are partners in active discovery — we don't collect knowledge, we create it.
What question are we not asking here that we should?
What's a bearcat? Pure awesomeness.
What do you wish people would do more of on Twitter?
Communicate with us. We love speaking directly with students.
Can you name some one-of-a-kind Twitter accounts that you follow?
Baxter Bearcat! He’s our mascot. Yes, we do follow an animal on Twitter
What's the wildest experience you've had via social media?
We gained the biggest Facebook following in the whole SUNY system, which consists of 64 campuses! Also, one of our commencement speeches from 2011 went viral!
How do you or your organization use social media? What makes your use unique?
Binghamton is a small relatively young institution, but one where students, faculty, staff and alumni have truly embraced social media. We have the largest, most engaged Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/BinghamtonU) following in the entire SUNY system, which consists of 64 campuses. This also applied to our Instagram and countless other pages. Often times we hand out social networks over to our student body, allowing them to tell the world about their experience and allowing our followers to gain a different perspective on Binghamton.
