What's your best tweet?
Like the search for the perfect boyfriend, the search for the perfect Twitter client is a trade-off between features and stability.
What are six things you could never do without?
I tweeted this as...if your fingers were a swiss army knife: http://tr.im/M25J and answered here: http://tr.im/M26e
How do you use Twitter in your professional life?
Knowledge sharing & gathering, relationship building, and quick exchanges that replace annoying email.
What's your favorite Twitter app?
Tweetdeck is the one I use the most, but Refollow and Backtweets are the ones that give me that "gee whiz" effect.
Twitter or Facebook?
Twitter has made me soften towards Facebook...the same updates get totally diff reactions b/c they are totally different communities.
What was the funniest trend you've seen?
The funniest things on Twitter are also totally transient & forgettable, so can't think further back than this wk's iPad-a-thon.
What feature should Twitter add?
Full, searchable, downloadable archive --- at least of my own tweets. And at least 6 mo searchable for all. I'll pay!
Who do you wish had a Twitter feed but doesn't?
I've written a song about this. But it's not about the feeds I wish I could follow -- it's about the friends I wish would stay in touch.
What are some words or phrases you refuse to shorten for brevity?
Is there someone you want to follow you who doesn't already? If so, who?
Stephen Sondheim, but on my alter ego account. Wait! I've said too much.
Have you ever unfollowed someone? Who and why?
I unfollow people who don't know me. People who I don't want to follow but do know go in my "obsess" column on Tweetdeck: http://bit.ly/twea...
Why should we vote for you?
Because I explore and occasionally embody the life-, relationship- and world-changing possibilities of Twitter.
Terms you wish would start trending on Twitter right now?
What's the most interesting connection you've made through Twitter?
I value the new connections less than the ability to meaningfully connect or re-connect with someone w/whom I've never clicked or lost touch.
Hashtag you created that you wish everyone used?
How do you make your tweets unique?
Most of my tweets are thoughts, not links -- so they are as unique as the inside of my head.
What inspires you to tweet?
The ability to distill and record joyful thoughts and moments that would otherwise go unremarked.
Ever get called out for tweeting too much?
I ran into a friend last night I hadn't seen in years. But he knew exactly what's happening with me...tx to my tweets.
140 characters of advice for a new user?
Twitter can be incredibly useful even if you never tweet. Don't tweet until you've watched...and feel in your gut how you want to contribute.
How long can you go without a tweet?
I went 24 hours recently. It actually felt refreshing.
What question are we not asking here that we should?
What have you given up -- on or offline -- to make room in your life for Twitter?
Who do you admire most for his or her use of Twitter?
My daughter, @lilsweetie. Unlike me she is very particular about what she wants me to post to her Twitter acct & what is too private.
Why'd you start tweeting?
I started tweeting under a secret alter ego that brings joy to people...of a specific sort. Then I wanted to tweet as myself, too!
Has Twitter changed your life? If yes, how?
Twitter makes me see my life like a giant house made of Lego: I'm constantly looking for the lines that will break it into 140 characters.
What do you wish people would do more of on Twitter?
Share the beauty they see in other people and the pain they find in themselves...instead of the other way around.
How will the world change in the next year?
Vancouver will very briefly be the most Tweeted place on the planet.
What are some big Twitter faux pas?
Just rocked a phone call with a new, high-profile client who is hiring me to do a big, game-changing project. #FTW
What will the world be like 10 years from now?
141 characters will be considered long-form writing.
