The Coast Halifax
The Coast Halifax needs your nomination for a Shorty Award!
The Coast: Halifax's weekly newspaper, featuring news and arts reporting. Our reporter Tim Bousquet's live-blogging of Halifax city council meetings via Twitter-- which is at the same time irreverent, witty and informative-- has brought unprecedented interest and citizen engagement to municipal affairs. The Twitter live-blogging is "the best thing on Twitter" (@kempthead), " ground breaking" (@wlach), "transcends the mind-numbing pettiness of local government" (@Chris Jones), and "makes me want to be informed about municipal politics" (@Rob MacArthur). Other reporters post links and commentary on the local arts scene, and we use Twitter for prize give-aways as well. twitcoast has become a forum for discussion of local issues on many fronts.
