I think a good collective answer is: coffee, phone, burritos, laptop, beer, and laughter.
How do you use Twitter in your professional life?
We try to keep a balance of information, conversation, and fun. There are real people here, and we want our fans to know that.
What's your favorite Twitter app?
There are a few people who help to manage the @
SEGA Twitter, and we all use different programs. Most of us use Tweetdeck, though.
Twitter or Facebook?
Both, but for different reasons. Our audiences in these spaces differ, and we try to tailor our content for the different spaces we post in.
What was the funniest trend you've seen?
Just before our holiday break, we became enthralled with the Dumb Running Sonic meme. We still read it every day. Hilarious!
What feature should Twitter add?
We would love a spam filter for DMs. We get so much spam that it's easy to miss a real message from someone.
What are some words or phrases you refuse to shorten for brevity?
We try not to shorten words or phrases if we can help it. I'd rather re-write a tweet all together to use whole words.
Is there someone you want to follow you who doesn't already? If so, who?
We're grateful for all of our followers, and we do have a few celebrity followers. We want everyone interested in fun to follow us!
Have you ever unfollowed someone? Who and why?
No, but we don't enjoy when people are rude or obnoxious. Usually they stop when they realize we're reading/answering. Sometimes not.
Why should we vote for you?
We're a small and incredibly dedicated team trying to do things differently than most gaming companies.
Terms you wish would start trending on Twitter right now?
We love to see SEGA or one of our brands trending. But we also think more people should take up our tradition of Dessert Friday.
What's the most interesting connection you've made through Twitter?
Besides our global fans, we've had ex-employees, celebrities, former collaborators, and other people reach out to us via Twitter.
Hashtag you created that you wish everyone used?
We create hashtags for all of our events, like
#SegaE3,
#SegaPAX, etc. We love seeing tweets around our event efforts. Use them!
How do you make your tweets unique?
Each of us that tweets for SEGA puts their own personality on their tweets. We don't want to be a faceless corporation. We're real people!
What inspires you to tweet?
We love sharing behind-the-scenes stuff with our fans, and we do it as much as we can. We want to bring value, and something interesting.
Ever get called out for tweeting too much?
Yes, especially during conventions and our Free Stuff Friday giveaways. We try to be conscious of it, but spreading information is our job!
140 characters of advice for a new user?
Find companies, content, and people you enjoy and follow them. Find hashtags for your favorite show, band, etc. Participate.
How long can you go without a tweet?
We didn't tweet much over our holiday break. But generally, we don't go more than 2-3 days without a tweet. We're (almost) always on!
What question are we not asking here that we should?
This is the largest number of questions we've answered without being asked about Shenmue 3 or Dreamcast 2.
How do you imagine Twitter changing?
Twitter needs to keep moving toward creating a suite of business tools for companies to use. We're excited for the future.

We laugh about something we saw on our Twitter just about every day.
What is one of the biggest misconceptions of Twitter?
That it's for self-absorbed people who talk about what they ate for breakfast. Those people exist, but so do witty, intelligent, fun people.
Why should people follow you?
We are real people, and we aren't afraid to show it. We have conversations. We share behind-the-scenes stuff. Oh, and we tweet about games.
Can you name some one-of-a-kind Twitter accounts that you follow?
We have lots of great followers that send us all kinds of crazy content. It's often unique and bizarre, and we love seeing it.
How do you decide what to tweet?
We want to maintain a mix of useful, informative, fun, exclusive content that is in some way SEGA related.
Why'd you start tweeting?
We wanted to have a way to quickly share content and have conversations with our fans.
Has Twitter changed your life? If yes, how?
Twitter allows us to quickly share content with our fans. We make an effort to have a conversation, not just push marketing out to them.
What do you wish people would do more of on Twitter?
Answer! Some companies just use Twitter to push 140 character press releases, but don't reply to their followers. What a missed opportunity!
How will the world change in the next year?
Everyone is more social media savvy. We're going to see more social media-based news stories than ever before.
What are some big Twitter faux pas?
Accidentally tweeting on the wrong account. We've all used @
SEGA when we meant to use our own accounts. It's so embarrassing.
What will the world be like 10 years from now?
We will continue to morph with our technology and devices. Nobody will ever ask *if* a company has a social strategy, but simply what it is.
