Cheese, my piano (though I don't play it enough), laughter, sharing time with people, my wife, my daughter. <<< In reverse order, sorry honey
How do you use Twitter in your professional life?
I use it to promote shows I'm in, or that I feel people should see. To build awareness of companies I have interests in etc.
What's your favorite Twitter app?
All though it does still frustrate me, Tweetie that is now the official Twitter app. I just wish it could handle multiple accounts better.
Twitter or Facebook?
Twitter is definitely for the intriguing and intellectual angle, Facebook I use to catch up on what old college friends are up to.
What was the funniest trend you've seen?
Being a spelling geek, I do love the trends for things that are mis-spelt.
What feature should Twitter add?
It should strip and reshape the Who To Follow feature that's for sure. Why should I follow someone who hasn't tweeted for a year?
Who do you wish had a Twitter feed but doesn't?
I wish Tom Cruise had an account that he did himself, there's the official twitter account, which follows me also, but it's not the same.
What are some words or phrases you refuse to shorten for brevity?
I am a swine for insisting on using apostrophes, and refuse to shorten with to w/

Have you ever unfollowed someone? Who and why?
Oh yes, I've unfollowed for crudeness, repetition, lack of tweeting. Oh and interminable quoting of "thoughts". Yack.

With two years now of tweeting, I've interacted with many areas and interests, and I'm pleased to feel a useful part of the experience.
Terms you wish would start trending on Twitter right now?
#HarpersHappyHens would be a great one, as I'm working with a new TV Channel to do a little documentary on our chickens.

about a radio play of his that I was in, though he hasn't felt the need to follow me. Shame on him.

How do you make your tweets unique?
This will sound wanky, but by being myself and attempting to keep my own sense of self in my language. But mostly by not typing LOL.
What inspires you to tweet?
Something that's made me smile. My daughter for instance. A novel idea, or provoking article.

My wife has wondered why I occasionally spend such a lot of time on twitter, yes.

Don't just follow, talk, & express yourself, interact, connect, take part, watch, read, learn, enjoy. Nothing is useful if you don't join in.
How long can you go without a tweet?
I have to admit that I can go almost a week without tweeting if I'm travelling a lot and busy with too many things.

You're not asking how I or others should use twitter to best promote the shortyawards, and why would I want to do it anyway.
How do you imagine Twitter changing?
I think twitter will need to change with it's advertising models and perhaps start branching out into beneficial supportive apps.

is truly inspirational for the way his crowd funding site helps supports creative arts.

is pretty funny, she does lots of character sketches on post-its.
What is one of the biggest misconceptions of Twitter?
That people only talk about going to the loo and eating toast. Thankfully, not at the same time. Gross!
Why should people follow you?
I guess they should follow if they want to interact with a real person who's not just here to make money out of twitter or talk about myself.

How do you decide what to tweet?
Occasionally I self edit and restrict myself from posting mundane crap, other time I try wit, I post a lot of interesting article links too.
Why'd you start tweeting?
Initially, I thought it might be a good way of marketing my old company on the internet, combined with other on and offline marketing.
Has Twitter changed your life? If yes, how?
It has in a way. It's made me better able to be concise with my arguments, and put my points across succinctly.
What do you wish people would do more of on Twitter?
I wish more people would introduce themselves and not just follow people.
How will the world change in the next year?
With all the recent events in Japan, and budget cuts happening here in UK, I think real life person to person interactions will reduce in qty

Automatic "Thank you following me, here's a stupid link" DM's
What will the world be like 10 years from now?
I think there will be a shift, however small, towards smaller communities instead of the globalisation of the last 30 years or so.
