What are some words or phrases you refuse to shorten for brevity?
All of them. I don't abbreviate, generally speaking. If you can't say it in 140 characters don't cheat. It looks childish.

I always enjoy it when politicians follow me on twitter.
Have you ever unfollowed someone? Who and why?
Because I like to interact with my followers, I like to follow as many of them as possible. Sometimes that means housekeeping.
Why should we vote for you?
Because I'm more 'real' than most people in Washington DC.

Well, one of my tweets was read on the Rachel Maddow program. So that was interesting.

How do you make your tweets unique?
Lots of people do political humor. Few people do charming political humor. Combine that was a dose of populism and you're pretty unique.
What inspires you to tweet?
The news, and sometimes the absurdity of it all. Sometimes it's just something that needs to be said, like #IWorkOnChristmas.
Ever get called out for tweeting too much?
Oh Lord, all the time. I tell them to follow someone else.
140 characters of advice for a new user?
Twitter is interactive. Don't just tweet into the wind, tweet @ people and respond to tweets @ you. Interaction is key.
How long can you go without a tweet?
I can go as long as I want without tweeting. I just have a lot to say.

What are the next 140 characters? How can we use twitter to improve the world around us?
How do you imagine Twitter changing?
I think it will continue to grow and change. I only hope those in power use it more to get direct feedback. Twitter is an instant focus group
Who do you admire most for his or her use of Twitter?
@CoryBooker changed the way we think about twitter during our holiday blizzard. What he did was impressive, bold and admirable.

That it's just people talking about what they are doing at that moment.
Why should people follow you?
They should follow me if they like politics, humor and Notre Dame football.

How do you decide what to tweet?
I tweet a lot (some have said too much), but I think my retweets speak more than my tweets.
Why'd you start tweeting?
Because I had something to say. Turns out, it was a lot.
Has Twitter changed your life? If yes, how?
What I really hope is that I, through twitter, will effect change in other people's lives. That is the true test of a social network.
What do you wish people would do more of on Twitter?
I wish that people would stop making lists for Follow Friday and start giving endorsements again. Tell me why I should follow them.
How will the world change in the next year?
Lord, if I knew the answer to that question I'd be much better at my job.
What are some big Twitter faux pas?
Complaining to someone about how they tweet. You don't like how often I tweet, follow someone else. The unfollow button is right there.
What will the world be like 10 years from now?
I hope that the world will be a better place in ten years. I hope we can work together to solve the problems we face head on.
