What's your best tweet?
http://twitpic.com... This is the donut @DorotheeRH ate in Madison, it was bigger than her head!
What are six things you could never do without?
Travel, Donuts, Laptop charger, Farmers, Sleep and Good Friends!
How do you use Twitter in your professional life?
We stay up to date on news, promote recent blog posts & videos, connect with great organizations & brands and so much more...
What's your favorite Twitter app?
Hootsuite all the way baby!
Twitter or Facebook?
Twitter for connecting to a broader range of people we normally wouldn't come across or wouldn't have such personal access to.
What was the funniest trend you've seen?
We find it amusing that people take Twitpics of the food they're eating all the time. People seem to love it.
What feature should Twitter add?
A Twitter feed archive page that doesn't take forever to load old tweets. Or even better, a good search function for old tweets.
Who do you wish had a Twitter feed but doesn't?
We wish Obama's White House chef Sam Kass had a Twitter feed but we imagine he's pretty busy...
What are some words or phrases you refuse to shorten for brevity?
We try not to abbreviate "thanks" when possible. "Organic" would be a hard one to shorten...
Is there someone you want to follow you who doesn't already? If so, who?
We would love @dosomething to follow us since we're one of their grantees. We also love @GOOD & @KQEDScience.
Have you ever unfollowed someone? Who and why?
We unfollow anyone who tries to sell us something via DM - especially if it is "how to increase your followers!!"
Why should we vote for you?
We're traveling the country to explore the American sustainable food landscape & sharing news, original videos, photos & tips along the way!
Terms you wish would start trending on Twitter right now?
What's the most interesting connection you've made through Twitter?
We connected with @roundbarnfarm on Twitter & ended up traveling to Vermont to visit the Inn, blogged about it and made a video about them!
Hashtag you created that you wish everyone used?
Wish we could say we created it, but we use #organic a lot.
How do you make your tweets unique?
We create our own content: write our own blog posts, produce original videos, take photos and are building a map - we tweet that all.
What inspires you to tweet?
Desire to share our experiences on the road, connect with like-minded people and spread the message of sustainability.
Ever get called out for tweeting too much?
So far we haven't - we rarely live-tweet an event but when we do, that's a lot of tweets at once. We try to warn our followers in advance.
140 characters of advice for a new user?
Listen. Find your voice. Find your friends. Be original. Share. Be generous. Don't send automatic DMs. Follow us! :)
How long can you go without a tweet?
Not even one day.
Who do you admire most for his or her use of Twitter?
We admire @RodaleInstitute for their great coverage of organic farming issues and @GwenBell is an inspiration for personal use of Twitter.
Why'd you start tweeting?
We knew it'd be a great way to connect with the awesome online communities of green folks, farmers, food activists, chefs, etc.
Has Twitter changed your life? If yes, how?
Absolutely, when we're out on the road, we get recommendations & tips from our followers about places to visit and explore. It's great.
What do you wish people would do more of on Twitter?
We wish skeptical Twitter users & brands would take a moment to "listen" to the existing conversations before talking. It's a conversation!
How will the world change in the next year?
More businesses will use social media because they'll realize how important it is to be part of the conversation. More organic & local food!
What are some big Twitter faux pas?
Forgetting to attribute a RT, especially if it is word for word. Too much promoting and not enough conversation with community.
What will the world be like 10 years from now?
Both urban & rural families will grow portions of their own food, more people will know a farmer, everyone will have android phones.
