How do you use Twitter in your professional life?
I tweet links to my stories as well as provide follow-up commentary on those topics. Also interact with readers and fans non-stop.
What's your favorite Twitter app?
Tweetdeck (an older version) for desktop, Tweetbot for iPhone.
Twitter or Facebook?
Twitter for work and staying up to date the fastest. Facebook for staying in touch with friends and family.
What feature should Twitter add?
Expanded profiles to allow for embeddable videos or photos on profile pages.
What are some words or phrases you refuse to shorten for brevity?
Is there someone you want to follow you who doesn't already? If so, who?
Aside from @
BarackObama (obvious choice), I would be flattered to be followed by @JerrySeinfeld. I still watch his syndicate reruns daily.
Have you ever unfollowed someone? Who and why?
Absolutely, because I found those accounts to lack any insightful commentary or information. They instead just filled my timeline with junk.
Hashtag you created that you wish everyone used?
#27outs - When watching a baseball game I try to remind my followers there are 27 outs in a game for a reason.
How do you make your tweets unique?
Instead of jumping on the top stories immediately, I like to provide more thoughtful and reflective tweets with opinions supported by facts.
What inspires you to tweet?
The conversation with like-minded individuals who share the same passion I do for the sport, or topic, I am covering.
Ever get called out for tweeting too much?
It depends on which fan base I seem to be bashing or dis-respecting.
How do you imagine Twitter changing?
Perhaps an expansion on tweet length. Going from 140 characters to 200 would be an interesting change, yet not too bothersome.
Who is the funniest person on Twitter that you follow?
The infamous @zoowithroy. Penguins, Roy Halladay. What could possibly go wrong?
What is one of the biggest misconceptions of Twitter?
That it is pointless, with updates about what you ate for lunch. Twitter is what you make of it. Find people with similar interests.
Why should people follow you?
I like to talk about college football year round but live in an area focused heavily on pro sports. Help me get through the off-season!
How do you decide what to tweet?
I like to share information as it becomes available, but prefer to have supporting info and commentary before I'm ready to do so.
Has Twitter changed your life? If yes, how?
Without Twitter I would not enjoy what I do now, covering college football. I have met many new people through it that make it all worth it.
How will the world change in the next year?
We are going to see video and similar forms of media continue to become more abundant online.
What are some big Twitter faux pas?
Tweeting the wrong information before getting a confirmation. Have learned from my mistakes, hopefully! Also, typos. Lots of them.
