How do you use Twitter in your professional life?
I am doing that far less @mediaideas and would like to find a way to merge that account with this account @helpingmedia and let all know.
What's your favorite Twitter app?
Probably Tweetdeck, but I like SplitTweet, Twitalyzer, Twittip, and the new app I have just downloaded to my smartphone
Twitter or Facebook?
Both, I tie them together via TweetDeck and include LinkedIn, too. Twitter for news dissemination, Facebook for community.
What was the funniest trend you've seen?
I am probably too serious about my tweeting to spend time looking at funny trends, sorry, not a great help on this one.
What feature should Twitter add?
A colour code showing which tweets are currently having the most impact to help those wanting to retweet.
Who do you wish had a Twitter feed but doesn't?
The main media development and human rights organisations are getting better, but more need to tweet and follow the right people.
What are some words or phrases you refuse to shorten for brevity?
Most, I feel the tweet should make sense standing alone and many who follow me don't have English as their first language.
Is there someone you want to follow you who doesn't already? If so, who?
Not that I know of, I have a fairly good network of contacts developing thanks to Twitter.
Have you ever unfollowed someone? Who and why?
Marketing gurus who send me direct messages trying to sell their get rich quick ideas.

To help support those who can't afford training, are denied access to help and who are being threatened or attacked.

What's the most interesting connection you've made through Twitter?
The friends of the bloggers #EdminAdnan prior to, during and after visits to Azerbaijan to train journalists in social networking.
Hashtag you created that you wish everyone used?
I tend to search for existing hashtags that best reflect the subject matter of the tweet I am writing to ensure it gets widest reach
How do you make your tweets unique?
By ensuring that every tweet supports journalists where media freedom is threatened and offers them a voice when they are in trouble.
What inspires you to tweet?
Finding information in the category of 'had it not been for you the world would never have known"
Ever get called out for tweeting too much?
Not yet, but my sons give me a hard time.
140 characters of advice for a new user?
Build up a profile with a link to your blog and with at least 10 tweets or retweets before you begin to follow others.
How long can you go without a tweet?
A week when skiing in the Italian Alps and I don't have access to information and want to make the most of my time on the piste.
What question are we not asking here that we should?
Not sure, I've only answered two and there are 26 left.
Who do you admire most for his or her use of Twitter?
Anyone who tries to share information that 'had it not been for them the world would never have known' - there are too many to list.
Why'd you start tweeting?
Because I saw it as and exiting, practical and effective way of newsgathering and news dissemination

Yes, it has totally changed the way I can discover and disemminate information. It has also introduced me to fascinating people.
What do you wish people would do more of on Twitter?
Add the right hashtags so I can follow and sift more easily
How will the world change in the next year?
Social networking will ensure that the voices of the marginalised will be heard in a way that the mainstream media will be unable to ignore.
What are some big Twitter faux pas?
Spamming with get rich quick scams.
What will the world be like 10 years from now?
We will be better informed, exposed to multiple perspectives, unable to ignore the marginalised, and force to respond to their needs.
