About ESL Library

ESL Library is a resource site for teachers who teach English as a second language to teens and adults. We believe that teaching a language can only be effective if the students are passionate about and interested in the content of the lesson. Our team develops English lesson plans with subjects that truly connect with our everyday lives, and which are bound to provoke and encourage classroom debate and discussion among all students. Our lessons focus on local and global issues. They examine political, environmental, and social concerns, and honor artistic and scientific leaders who have influenced or helped shape our world. ESL Library is used by over 7,000 universities, high schools, and private language schools in more than 100 countries. We launched in 2002. We’re a team of just four people, and we love every minute of what we do. ESL Library uses social media to connect with educators around the world. Engaging socially with teachers and learners inspires us to create resources that are in high demand. We also use social media to stay informed about trends and changes in our world. Our social media director, Tara Benwell, is our head writer and an online English language teacher. Tara adds a personal touch to our social media accounts by responding to education-based queries, sharing teaching tips, and getting to know the ELT community. Our editor Tanya Trusler and creative director Robyn Shesterniak play key roles in our social media strategy as well. Regardless of how short a status update may be, we understand the importance of visual appeal and accuracy. We’re living and learning tweet by tweet, comment by comment–always focusing on engagement rather than numbers.
