How do you use Twitter in your professional life?
I work in nonprofits, in an org dedicated to my sister's illness. I use Twitter to raise awareness about health issues and disease.

Twitter or Facebook?
Both. The Egyptian revolution taught me that the 2 are not mutually exclusive. A video sparked the revolution, twitter made it global.

What feature should Twitter add?
It's not sexy, but imagine if Twitter connected w/ Rock the Vote to help people register to vote and be proud (profile badge?) of it.
Who do you wish had a Twitter feed but doesn't?
People in jail. Imagine what they're going through? It would be interesting to see life through their perspective.
What are some words or phrases you refuse to shorten for brevity?
Cunnilingus. Never shorten my cunnilingus.
Is there someone you want to follow you who doesn't already? If so, who?
Not gonna lie, I don't really care for celebrity. I just enjoy having the 9k followers I have now. I can broadcast good messages for change.
Have you ever unfollowed someone? Who and why?
I unfollow people who don't know how to debate--they use ad-hominem or personal attacks or don't engage in real discussion.
Why should we vote for you?
I'm passionate, honest and really good at producing a message that gets people to think. I have a good return on links, too.

I've been asked to blog for some prominent progressive political blogs, I want to get started, but I want to be conscientious about it.

I'm not afraid to say the truth + call politicians out. Also, people r shocked to see a woman tweeting positively, unapologetically about sex
What inspires you to tweet?
I get emotional and react when I see injustice, corruption and oppression. I also tweet when I think I can make a difference.

Depends upon what's going on in the world. During Egyptian revolution, I was going nonstop.

I think you should ask people who they respect and admire on Twitter. Everyone is looking for positive role models to learn from + follow.
How do you imagine Twitter changing?
I use twitter as respite from caring for mentally and terminally ill family. I see more people joining it for meaningful connections + love.
Who do you admire most for his or her use of Twitter?
I really admire @EbertChicago aka Roger Ebert. He uses his tweets for education, awareness and fun. He never tweets frivolously.

"I'm brushing my teeth." "I'm eating breakfast"--ppl assume it's for mundane tweets, when in fact, many use it for education + organizing!
Why should people follow you?
Never knew until the Shorty Awards why ppl liked my tweets. I make politics accessible, interesting and relevant to those less inclined to it

I was a caregiver to my terminally ill sister + her mentally ill daughters. Stuck at home, I sought an outlet for socializing/politics SRSLY

totally. I have major carpel tunnel syndrome.

Millions of Americans don't have access to alternative media. I wish ppl would use their tweets to raise awareness about alt media.

They cynic in me thinks w new teaparty leaders in Congress + lossed Dem majority, things will get worse in the US + therefore in the world

Some bat-shit crazy right-wingers include the words "Glenn Beck" in EVERY TWEET. No shit, 1 guy said "You think you're so smart. Glenn Beck"
What will the world be like 10 years from now?
the optimist wants the world to be cleaner and more supportive of gays, women, people of color, workers, animals and earth.
