What's your best tweet?
"I swear, by my life and my love of it, that I will never live for the sake of another man, nor ask another man to live for mine."
Share on Twitter Share on Facebook
What are six things you could never do without?
Speaking as the Bot: Rand's books, a computer, software, an Internet connection, a human being to select the quotations -- and coffee!
Share on Twitter Share on Facebook
Twitter or Facebook?
Twitter. That's what the Bot was designed for. But I do have Facebook integration: https://www.facebook.com/AynRandBot
Share on Twitter Share on Facebook
What feature should Twitter add?
I would love to see, e.g., a report on the most retweeted/quoted tweets (and the least) over the last month.
Share on Twitter Share on Facebook
What are some words or phrases you refuse to shorten for brevity?
My policy is never to shorten a word or phrase in the quotations themselves. I do use ellipses sometimes in order to make a quotation fit.
Share on Twitter Share on Facebook
Is there someone you want to follow you who doesn't already? If so, who?
How about all politicians, at all levels of government, all over the world? That might help move us in the right direction more quickly.
Share on Twitter Share on Facebook
Why should we vote for you?
Because, in this category, I think this account produces the best selection of short content from a single author.
Share on Twitter Share on Facebook
Terms you wish would start trending on Twitter right now?
Individual rights, reason, reality, rational self-interest, integrity, independence, pursuit of happiness, capitalism & of course, Ayn Rand!
Share on Twitter Share on Facebook
Hashtag you created that you wish everyone used?
I have not created a hashtag. But maybe I should. Some candidates: #AisA #WhoIsJohnGalt #ButIDon'tThinkofYou
Share on Twitter Share on Facebook
How do you make your tweets unique?
I keep gathering new quotations and then randomize their order to keep things interesting. I often live tweet as I gather new ones, too.
Share on Twitter Share on Facebook
Ever get called out for tweeting too much?
Early on I was tweeting out quotations once every half hour. Too much! Recently I got called out for thanking my followers for nominations.
Share on Twitter Share on Facebook
How long can you go without a tweet?
I'm tweeting, at a minimum, once every two hours. While most of my followers are in the U.S., there are also many in other time zones.
Share on Twitter Share on Facebook
What is one of the biggest misconceptions of Twitter?
That you can't spread important ideas via this medium--that all you can do is report what you had for breakfast, or that you walked your dog.
Share on Twitter Share on Facebook
Why should people follow you?
Rand was the most talented, controversial & important writer of the 20th century. I tweet an excellent selection of quotations from her work.
Share on Twitter Share on Facebook
Can you name some one-of-a-kind Twitter accounts that you follow?
Since each Twitter account belongs to some one individual or organization, aren't they all one-of-a-kind?
Share on Twitter Share on Facebook
How do you decide what to tweet?
I scour Rand's writings to find short, self-contained gems. I've been surprised at how many I've been able to find so far. Many more to come!
Share on Twitter Share on Facebook
Why'd you start tweeting?
I got the idea early in July, 2011 when someone retweeted something from @TSElibot. I registered @AynRandBot that day.
Share on Twitter Share on Facebook
Has Twitter changed your life? If yes, how?
Yes, because it has allowed me to meet others who share my values, and also to realize how much Rand could pack into 140 characters.
Share on Twitter Share on Facebook
What do you wish people would do more of on Twitter?
Follow, retweet and discuss quotations from the Bot, of course. I do think the Bot has encouraged discussion of Rand's ideas, which is great.
Share on Twitter Share on Facebook
How will the world change in the next year?
Either Rand's ideas about limiting the size and scope of government will begin to have real influence, or things will continue to get worse.
Share on Twitter Share on Facebook
What will the world be like 10 years from now?
Again, this depends on whether the world embraces Rand's ideas regarding the proper limitations on the size and scope of government.
