To update followers w/ information -- articles, action alerts, blogs, etc. -- and to hold conversations about our issues.
What's your favorite Twitter app?
It's a tie between Hootsuite and Bit.ly
Twitter or Facebook?
Don't make us choose! They're both effective (as well as our blog) in engaging our online supporters.
What was the funniest trend you've seen?
Don't know about funniest trend, but there have definitely been some heartbreaking ones such as #Haiti.
What feature should Twitter add?
Ability to comment on RTs when using the RT button.

Rule #1: on Twitter, everything is fair game to be shortened.

Ugh, yes -- they were tweeters who were, uh, inappropriate.

#pfa - the Paycheck Fairness Act, which needs to pass the Senate! Gender-based pay discrimination is unacceptable!
What's the most interesting connection you've made through Twitter?
Connecting w/ interested indivs who want 2take action but don't know how/where, & ppl asking for info abt our fellowships & grants program.

#wmnhist - it's the tag 4our weekly Twitter event: Women's History Wed. This day &tag R meant to educate abt &celebrate wmn's achievements
How do you make your tweets unique?
Various depts. are represented in our tweets: public policy, local branch events, blogging, etc. - we touch on all our issues, all the time.
What inspires you to tweet?
To share information and resources to support our work and our members.
Ever get called out for tweeting too much?
Not yet - not that we know of! We are usually praised for our tweets.
140 characters of advice for a new user?
Use Twitter to have a conversation, engage others & share info -- don't use it as just a way to disseminate your POV.
How long can you go without a tweet?
Oh, not long. ;-)

Yes, it has intro'ed us 2a whole new audience - mre ppl R aware of AAUW & our work. It's been fantastic! We appreciate our tweeps.
What do you wish people would do more of on Twitter?
Take part in conversations around issues affecting wmn & girls. There's a large wmn's community on Twitter; we want to see it keep growing!
How will the world change in the next year?
Hopefully there will B mre strides towrd gender equity. We're on the forefrnt of sme of those challnges now &are looking frward 2the yr ahead
What are some big Twitter faux pas?
When people don't care who they're following. Don't try to raise your # s/stats - follow b/c U honestly want 2know more abt the conversation.
What will the world be like 10 years from now?
New challnges will face ppl in all communities; real Q is: what will the wrld Bdoing10 yrs frm now 2break thru barriers that exist frm today?
