Social Media Outpouring for Dr. Pimple Popper's "Pops"

Dr. Lee has been posting viral pimple popping on Social Media for a few years and today, most know her as "Dr. Pimple Popper". The main YouTube account (Dr. Sandra Lee aka Dr. Pimple Popper) has over 1.7MM subscribers and Instagram account (@DrPimplePopper) has nearly 2MM followers. Videos have been watched almost 800MM times and she has one of the internet's most loyal and responsive fanbases.

Dr. Lee says that one of the most satisfying and rewarding things about this whole experience has been with one of her most longstanding patients known as "Pops" (not his real name). She began by posting videos on her YouTube channel featuring him and the audience learned that he and his wife were inseparable, often accompanying each other on their appointments. Last December however, Pops came in to see Dr. Lee alone. "Of course, I asked how his wife was doing. He broke down in tears as he told me that she had passed away the day after Christmas", Dr. Lee explained. Since her passing, he had a lot of trouble adjusting emotionally/financially, and had to move into an assisted living facility. Dr. Lee continued to explain, "I offered to extract the blackheads on his nose – his wife if, she were still alive, wouldn't have allowed him to leave the home with so many big blackheads there!" Dr. Lee knew so many people loved Pops and wanted to be there for him but had no idea what would happen next..

Why does this entry deserve to win?

As viewers learned more about Pops' story, Dr. Lee was amazed and absolutely touched by the kind words and support. Fans and supporters loved the videos of Pops not only because of the "popaholic" content but also, because of the touching story behind it. Initially, Dr. Lee asked fans to leave messages and for Pops and provided a mailing address for any notes they wanted to send. Many people wanted to send monetary gifts to support his cause so, unsure how well it would perform, a GoFundMe was set-up with a goal of $5,000. Dr. Lee spread the word of the campaign to her followers and subscribers via social media.

Results

Due to the encouragement of so many people via the Internet, we started a GoFundMe account for him, and presently, people from Detroit to Houston, from New Zealand to France, from Canada to Brazil, have sent him kind words and generous donations exceeding $14,000!!!

He was presented with a big check and the messages of well wishes from so many people who now consider him a friend.

Dr. Lee was happy to report that because of the kindness of so many viewers from around the world, he was able to use this money to move out of the assisted living facility, and move back into the home he had shared with the love of his life.

This is truly such a wonderful, heart-warming story… and it all came from "pimple popping."
