Our 360-degree Comic Con videos sought to accomplish two goals. First, we wanted to produce material that showcased the brand's recent recommitment to celebrating EVERYTHING sci-fi, fantasy, horror and the fandoms that love them. There is no better place to capture that spirit than at San Diego Comic Con and New York Comic Con. Second, we wanted to acknowledge the tech-forward mindset of our audience by producing SDCC coverage in an atypical way.
What better way to celebrate fandom and geek culture than at the two biggest geeky events of the year? Our videos took viewers to the most visually rich, right-in-the-middle-of-it events from San Diego Comic Con and New York Comic Con. Shooting them in the 360-degree format allowed for an immersion into the cons that's only beat by being there. Events we shot included the convention floors, giant cosplay meet ups, fan gatherings, a video game marching band, Artists Alley (where comic book creators showcase their work), exhibition booths and even lunch with Kevin Smith.
Our videos have earned over 50,000 views since their debut. They also garnered significant press attention as part of SYFY's rebrand efforts, which but the brand's focus back on the larger genre and its fandom.
