Our main goal for creating the Greatist Facebook Messenger Bot was to develop new utility and interaction with our brand via an emerging platform. Trying to figure out where to start your health journey can be overwhelming, so Greatist created the Bot with the intention of offering simple, fun tips to users daily. Over time, Greatist's Facebook Messenger starts to understand user behavior and habits to create a more personalized experience.
Our strategy was to send an actionable tip every day for consumers to read first thing in the morning, and that would motivate them to try something new or do one little thing better. The daily tips reflect Greatist's voice and allows users to go deeper by clicking through to smart and resourceful content on Greatist.com.
Each day, users are presented with the opportunity to tell us about themselves. The bot asks each user if they are willing to try out the idea, and users have the ability to respond. Based on those responses, Greatist's Bot will offer additional information, offer a new tip or check in with the user at a later time.
Greatist was looking to capture user attention and drive awareness for the brand across a new platform. Since we launched the bot, we see consistent and loyal daily engagement with more than 40K users, and a strong engagement rate from those who request additional information every day. In addition, we are able to leverage this new platform to drive buzz and engagement with brand partners.
